During the heyday of the dot coms, an enterprising young person founded an internet e-commerce superstore consisting of pre-created professionally-designed websites for small businesses. He introduced his product to a major internet domain name provider, agreeing to become a vice president of this provider, and was soon approached by senior management and asked to take over the division that would be responsible for selling his product. Sensing a potentially lucrative entrepreneurial opportunity, but without the experience in dealing with venture capitalists and large technology corporations, this entrepreneur enlisted the support of The Coaching Group’s managing partner as his coach.

In 1978, our client, an Indianapolis-based logistics management company started with just a few trucks, and began delivering one way freight. Over the next few years, it expanded into “Just in Time” delivery experts. Growing out of the deep tradition and long history of struggle for basic human rights, The Coaching Group’s Atlanta-based client is a movement grounded in the philosophy of nonviolent resistance based on the lives and teachings of leaders such as Jesus Christ and Mohandas Gandhi. It is a movement that also has roots in the larger history of liberation struggles by Black people and all oppressed peoples the world over. Building upon the traditional direction of civil rights organizations, there is a current trend to emphasize that economic rights assures civil rights – to accomplish the delineation of a specific methodology for establishing and expanding a program to encourage entrepreneurship, this client has engaged The Coaching Group’s managing partner.
